How do I submit an application to AHSGS’s graduate programmes?

As a returning student, should I need to send in copies of the certificates and transcripts again?

Applicants with UUM’s degree  must be admitted formally to the Graduate School through the same process as a student from any other college or university.

I am a final semester Degree/Masters student.

  •   Can I apply for a postgraduate study at UUM?

Yes, you can.

Degree/Masters student must forward – The letter showing the estimated duration till the end of your present study and the temporary transcript (full result) which can be obtained from the respective universities.

Can foreign students apply to study in the “part time mode”?

Yes, if the applicant possesses work permit in Malaysia.

Applicant needs to attach:

  •   The work permit
  •  Confirmation letter from the employer

When is the application deadline?

i)        For the Coursework  and the Mixed mode programmes:

a)      Sintok campus

  •  September Intake – application can be made from March          until the end of June
  •  February Intake – application can be made from October until the  end of November.

b)      For outside campuses

  •  January Intake – application can be made from September until the end of November
  • May Intake – application can be made from Januaryuntil the end of March
  • September Intake – application can be made from May until the end of July

ii)      For Research programmes:

  • Application is opened all the year round. For foreign students, please refer to the guide on the application for  visa at http://ciac.uum.edu.my

 How long does it take to complete the application?

i)        For a complete application:

  • Coursework  and mixed mode programmes - 2 weeks
  • Research programmes  – 1 month(depending on the approval and endorsement of the centre/school)

When will successful applicant receive the offer letter?

i)        For coursework and mixed mode programmes

  •   2 weeks from the date of sending in the application form.

ii)      For research programmes:

  •   1 month from the date of sending in the application form.

I have been admitted to your graduate programme. I would like to defer my admission and start your program in a later semester. What is your policy on deferring admission?

i) For local students, offer letter/calling letter will be sent to the       student a month before the registration date of the following semester.

ii) For foreign students, offer letter/calling letter will be sent three    months before the registration date of the following semester.

 

I have graduated from the Malaysian public university. Do i need to take  the English Language Placement Test?

Not compulsory

 How can I pay the application fee?

i)        Payment can be made through :

          a.      Bank (BIMB)

What are the documents needed on the registration day?

List of documents needed are

  i)      Copy of the offer letter

  ii)     Copy of the payment slip of the registration fee.

  iii)    Original certificates (Degree/Masters)

  iv)    Original Academic Transcripts (Degree/Masters)

  v)     4 Passport size photographs

Is there graduate student housing / accommodation offered by the university?

Yes, there is in-campus accommodation / housing for graduate students. Application for student’s accommodation can be made at the office of Student Accommodation Centre (SAC):-

Are applicants allowed to apply for a change in the structure/mode/study programme before they register themselves as new UUM students?

Any application for changes pertaining to the particulars of the course/programme in the offer letter will only be entertained after the applicant has registered himself/herself as a new student.

17.

How many credit hours of study are allowed per semester?

i)      Full time students :

a.      Total number of credit hours allowed is 9-16 credit hours.

ii)    Part time students :

b.      Total number of credit hours allowed is 3-9 credit hours.

      * Total number of credit hours for each course depends on the course          code of the said course. The last figure of the course code will                  determine the credit hours of each course. Example: SGDU 1234              (The total credit hours is 4)

  18.

 Should medical check-up report be made available by the applicant?

i)        Students of the  Sintok Campus :

        a. All Sintok Campus students should get their medical check-up                   report ready on the registration day.

        b. For local students, all medical check-up should be done at                         government hospital/clinic ONLY.

        c. For foreign students all medical check-up should be done at UUM               Health Centre ONLY.

ii)    Off Campus students :

d.      Off Campus students DO NOT have to prepare the Medical check-up reports.
