ENHANCING RAPPORT WITH STUDENT RECRUITMENT AGENTS TO INCREASE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ENROLMENT TO UUM
A dialogue session between AHSGS and student recruitment agents registered with UUM was held recently at the Main Meeting Room, School of Computing.
The inaugural dialogue held by AHSGS was conducted by the Dean of AHSGS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hisham Dzakiria and the Director of the Centre of International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Badariah Hj. Din; CIAC Senior Assistant Director, Mohd Khairy Mukhtaruddin; Senior Principal Assistant Registrar of AHSGS, Suraya Deraman; GSGSG representative and Assistant Administrative Officers of AHSGS.
The Dean of AHSGS said that the purpose of this dialogue is to improve the relationship and also to share the general and up-to-date information that the agents need to know in order to facilitate the international student intake process that will be done by them later.
"This is also in line with the University's requirement that the Graduate School focuses on the active agents who have the potential to bring in many international students to UUM and to increase the enrolment of postgraduate students as well as to make Universiti Utara Malaysia their first choice for graduate studies," he added.
The agents involved in the dialogue session were Zhong Ma Recruitment which was represented by Azzad Athirudin Ramli, International Cultural Communication Center Malaysia (ICCCM) represented by Hui Ann Loo and two (2) marketing staff along with Soaring Falcon International Sdn.Bhd led by Ibrahim.
Various questions were asked by agents concerning the online learning, special cohort admission, admission application process, supervision and student visa.
According to CIAC records, to date, there are 50 organizations that have registered with UUM that serve as international student recruitment agents.
Every agent appointed by UUM is to assist in recruiting international students as well as assisting them during the admission process and also plays a role in helping the university to establish relationships with universities abroad.
