The Covid-19 pandemic did not dampen the spirit of AHSGS staff participating in archery activities despite being busy with daily tasks.
The inaugural activity organised by the Graduate School is one of the efforts in fostering closer relationships among staff as well as reducing the stress of working in a Covid-19 environment.
The Dean of AHSGS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hisham Dzakiria in his speech mentioned that archery requires a total focus and high concentration if they want to master the sport.
The practice of focusing on something and giving high concentration in archery, he explained, can be applied when performing duties in an office that definitely brings benefits and advantages.
"Archery is able to educate a person emotionally (soul) and physically (body) because it can actually make a person more patient, calm and not trembling when he wants to put the arrow on target.”
"It can also train and make a person more positive, strategic and open-minded, and rational to overcome problems especially in carrying out their daily tasks."
"Archery is not just a normal sport, but rather it is one of the sunnah that Muslims are required to learn besides swimming and riding horses," he added.
The programme, attended by 23 AHSGS staff, received guidance from Puvaneswaran A/L Muniandi, the state and national archery coach for ordinary athletes as well as the disabled.
